I have been designing books for over 15 years for a wide range of both traditional publishers and indie authors. Currently I reside in West Linn, Oregon with my wife and kids—and a cat.

I am co-owner of theBookDesigners with Alan Hebel, based out of Fairfax, California. 

While book design is my passion and what I'm most suited for, I have also designed many logos, websites, posters and packaging. I'm an avid weightlifter, paleo adherent, reader, hiker, and all around cool dude.

Fun facts: My father designed book jackets in the 90s. One of my first book cover jobs was for a book called Kamehameha and His Warrior. I have lived in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, India, Philippines and Hawaii. My cat is named after the German publishing house, Taschen. My business partner, and great friend, Alan Hebel, started theBookDesigners with me in 2006 after 5 years at a San Francisco Bay Area publisher. We originally started a small multidisciplinary studio called Alian (Alan+Ian) Design. Our studio has been going 10+ years strong and we are proud to have worked with the top publishing houses in the world as well as many great self-published authors.
